The Basics of Music Theory Explained From Scales & Chords to the Cycle of Fifths


  • Familiarity with the piano is helpful but not required

This course goes over the chromatic, the major and minor scales as well as the major and minor chords. It also covers the 12 keys and the cycle of fifths. This is not a course on how to read music; it is designed to give a simpler explanation of music theory that will help you to write and play music with greater understanding. If you are interested in understanding the basics of music theory, this is the perfect course for you.

In this course I will explain to you in a simple way the key concepts of music theory and how we use it in music. You will also learn some secret nuggets of information that many people don’t know as well.

Advanced Concepts of Music Theory Explained Including Advanced Scales & Chords and How They Are Use


  • There is no prerequisite to take this course but it is recommended to take or to understand the concepts covered in Music Theory Explained 1 before taking the course.


This is the second course in the Music Theory Explained series that explains the foundational concepts of music theory in a relatable and simple way.  In this course students will learn the following:

  • Diminished Scales and Chords
